Xhosa is a Bantu language spoken by approximately 8 million people, primarily in South Africa's Eastern Cape province. It belongs to the Nguni branch of the Niger-Congo language family and shares some similarities with Zulu and Swazi languages. Xhosa has official status alongside nine other languages in South Africa.
